비디오 부착용 2중 렌즈 개발
Canon USA, a unit of Canon, has announced a new lens that attaches to its XL1 digital video camera that does with one camera what has for decades taken two. Its 3D zoom lens is two lenses in one, combined into a compact package. Like human eyes, it shoots an image from two slightly different points of view, while the camera acts as a brain, controlling both lenses at once.
The key is a high-speed shutter technology that switches between one lens and the other 60 times a second. During playback the left and right images are output alternately in a single video signal. And unlike conventional 3D video systems, there`s not a lot of special training or adjustment needed, Canon says.

캐논사 미국본부는 XL1 디지털 카메라에 부착시키는 새로운 렌즈를 개발했다고 발표했다. 그런데 이렇게 장착된 카메라로는 지난 수십 년간 두 개의 카메라로 이루어졌던 작업을 하나로 할 수 있게 된다. 여기에 있는 3D 줌 렌즈 하나에는 두 개가 들어가 있으며 소형 패키지로 결합돼 있다. 인간의 눈처럼, 이 카메라는 미세하게 다른 각도로부터 이미지를 발사하고 그 동안에 카메라는 두뇌 역할을 하면서 두 개의 렌즈를 즉각 통제하게 된다.
이 기술의 핵심은 하나의 렌즈와 다른 한 렌즈를 1초에 60회 교체시키는 고속 셔터 기술이다. 재생하는 동안 왼쪽과 오른쪽 이미지는 하나의 영상 부호로 교대로 나오게 된다. 아울러 기존의 3D 비디오 시스템과는 달리 특별한 훈련이나 조절이 필요하지 않다고 캐논측은 밝히고 있다.
