get ahead of oneself
Jenny: Oh, I`m so excited! Our own home! Do you know how long I`ve waited for this?
James: I`m happy, too, honey. It`s just that I`m still worried about how we`re going to afford it. Things are going to be pretty tight for a few months, that`s for sure.
Jenny: Hmm… that little room next to the bedroom is going to be my walk-in closet, and I`m going to do the main bathroom in slate tile. It`s going to be gorgeous.
James: Honey, don`t get ahead of yourself there. We haven`t even made the first bid on the house yet. We can`t be sure we`re going to get it.
Jenny: Well, a girl can dream, can`t she?
James: Just don`t get your hopes up.
Jenny: 너무 기대돼! 우리 집! 내가 얼마나 이 순간을 기다려 왔는지 알아요?
James: 나도 기뻐, 여보. 난 단지 어떻게 돈을 갚아 나가야 할 지가 걱정이야. 분명 몇 달 동안은 정말 빠듯할 것 같아.
Jenny: 음.. 침실 옆 작은 방은 내 옷방으로 하고, 큰 화장실은 석판 타일로 해야지. 근사할 것 같아.
James: 여보. 너무 앞서가지 마. 아직 첫 번째 입찰이 된 것도 아니잖아. 우리가 안 될지도 모르는데.
Jenny: 꿈은 꿀 수 도 있는 거잖아요, 안 그래요?
James: 그래도 너무 기대 하지는 마.
‘get ahead of oneself’는 기대로 어떤 상황을 미리 예측해서 들떠 있는 상태를 일컫는 말이다. “Don`t get ahead of yourself”는 ‘너무 앞서지 말아라, 너무 기대하지 말아라’라는 뜻으로 사용할 수 있다.

get one`s hopes up: 기대하다
